LSU added its second Top 10 player in the country and fourth in the Top 75 when second-year coach Kim Mulkey added a commitment Tuesday from 6-foot-5 five-star center Aalyah Del Rosario of the Web School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee.
Del Rosario, the nation’s No. 7 ranked player and No. 2 center by ESPNHoopgurlz.com, selected the Tigers live on Instagram over South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina.
Players can begin signing with respective schools Nov. 10, the start of the NCAA signing period for all sports except football.
Del Rosario, a physical post player, joins a class with Louisiana’s top player, five-star Mikaylah Williams of Parkway, leading the way as the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect. The Tigers also have commitments from Del Rosario’s high school teammate, four-star point guard Angelica Velez (No. 44), and four-star wing guard Janae Kent (No. 73) of Oak Forest, Illinois.
Del Rosario was born in Texas before spending most of her life in the Dominican Republic. She returned to the United States in time to begin the seventh grade where she lived in New Jersey.
She attended Trenton Catholic and averaged 16.3 points and 11.5 rebounds, earning first team All-New Jersey honors during the 2020-21 season.
When her school closed Del Rosario moved to Tennessee and has attended The Web School where she was a finalist for the TSSAAA Division II-A Miss Basketball Award last season. She averaged 13 points, 11 rebounds and four assists for The Webb School which won the Division II-A state championship.
Del Rosario and Williams were teammates this summer for Team USA’s U18 national team which captured gold in winning the 2022 FIBA Americas U18 Championship in Argentina. In six games, she averaged 7.3 points and 7.8 rebounds with two double-doubles.
