LSU suddenly has a massive hole to fill in the middle of its offensive line.
Center Will Clapp will forgo his senior season and enter the 2018 NFL Draft, he announced in a twitter post Thursday afternoon. Clapp was LSU’s starting center this season following a two-year stint at guard.
Clapp is the second member of LSU’s starting offensive line to declare for the draft, joining right tackle Toby Weathersby. Left tackle KJ Malone is also lost to graduation. Clapp is the sixth underclassmen over to declare, joining edge rusher Arden Key, running back Derrius Guice and cornerbacks Donte Jackson and Kevin Toliver.
LSU does have some internal candidates to take Clapp’s all-important place as the mouthpiece of the offensive line. Lloyd Cushenberry served as a versatile backup this season and LSU signed center Cole Smith during the Early Signing Period.
