LSU finally got some much-needed good news from the re-recruiting season.
Starting left guard Garrett Brumfield will return to school for his senior season, the fourth-year junior announced on Twitter Monday afternoon. He started every game of the 2017 season at left guard.
Brumfield’s return is a big pick up for the LSU offensive line amid center Will Clapp and right tackle Toby Weathersby declaring early for the 2018 NFL Draft. Brumfield will join rising freshmen Saahdiq Charles and Ed Ingram as returning starters on the 2018 offensive line.
The news comes as a big relief for LSU coach Ed Orgeron and the staff with six underclassmen already declared for the draft. LSU lost running back Derrius Guice, edge rusher Arden Key, cornerbacks Donte Jackson and Kevin Toliver in addition to Clapp and Weathersby.
Brumfield, a Baton Rouge native, saw action as a reserve in 2015 and 2016 after taking a redshirt in his first season on campus. He took home SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors for his efforts in a week one win against BYU.
