First off, let’s all remember that any mock drafts or projections done before the NFL Combine is awfully speculative. Everything can and inevitable will change as more information becomes available.
That being said, ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr’s first mock draft, which came out Thursday, surely raised some eyebrows around Baton Rouge.
Kiper mocked that no LSU players would be selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, meaning both edge rusher Arden Key and running back Derrius Guice, thought to be lock first-rounders, would slide into day two of the draft. Here’s his full mock:

It’s unclear if Kiper fading Key and Guice is purely his own conjecture or based on insight from NFL front office types. Both Guice and Key have dealt with injuries this season that could potentially be red flags.
NFL Draft analyst Mike Detillier joined the Tiger Rag Radio Show on Tuesday night and had a different take entirely, projecting both former Tigers to be first-round selections. Detillier gave his own scouting report and projected where all six LSU underclassmen will be selected this spring. Give it a listen:
