LSU’s Tremont Waters lands pair of postseason honors

Tremont Waters’ rookie season at LSU has netted him a pair of postseason awards Tuesday.

Waters landed on both the coaches’ SEC All-Freshman and on the USBWA All-District VII team, as voted on by members of the United States Basketball Writers Association.

Through 30 regular season games, Waters averaged team highs in points (15.6 per game), assists (5.9 per game), and steals (2.0 per game). He shot 41 percent from the field, 35 percent from 3, and 80 percent from the free throw line. His steals mark leads the SEC, and he set an LSU freshman record with his 177 assists, which are fifth in a single season all-time in school history, with the SEC Tournament and potentially the NIT or NCAA Tournament ahead.
