A third freshman from Will Wade’s first signing class at LSU has decided to part ways with the program.
Brandon Rachal, a 2018 signee from Natchitoches Central High School in Natchitoches, La., announced Wednesday he would leave the program after a season in Baton Rouge.

The 6-foot-5 wing averaged 4.4 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in his first season but found his role increased last in the season as a small ball four, when he averaged 7.5 points, 7.25 rebounds, and 2.75 steals per game.
A smart and physical defender, Rachal made the Tigers better with his presence on the floor. He led the team in net rating in all games (+9.6 points per 100 possessions), in games against Top 100 foes (+19.6 points per 100 possessions), and in SEC games (+21.6 points per 100 possessions).
Off-the-court issues contributed to his departure from the program more than his play on the floor. He served a one-game suspension during SEC play for his appearance in a rap music video, and he also missed LSU’s final two games of the season – including the NIT win over UL-
Lafayette – for a violation of team rules.
Rachal’s exit comes after his fellow 2018 signees Galen Alexander and Mayan Kiir also left the program. The Tigers now have one scholarship vacant and are set to host re-classified 2018 wing Aundre Hyatt on an official visit August 4-6.
LSU still boasts plenty of wing depth, after the offseason additions of junior college forward Marlon Taylor and freshman Darius Days, and the Tigers could also feature plenty of three-guard looks with backcourt depth provided by Tremont Waters, Javonte Smart, Skylar Mays, Daryl Edwards, and Danya Kingsby.
