LSU defensive end Rashard Lawrence announced he will forego the 2019 NFL draft to return to the program for his senior season, he announced via Twitter on Friday night.
Lawrence spent most of the season on the other side of fellow starting defensive end Breiden Fehoko — who will also return for his senior year — where he accrued 54 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and four sacks as he started every game for the Tigers this season.
He had a stand-out performance in LSU’s 40-32 victory against UCF in which he four tackles, all for loss, including two sacks for a total of 15 yards.
In his three career at LSU, Lawrence as tallied 92 tackles, 36 of which have been solo tackles and 6.5 of which have been sacks.
Lawrence joins Fehoko and linebacker Michael Divinity as Tigers who considered leaving the program for the chance to play in the NFL but ultimately decided to stay at LSU
LSU now just awaits the announcements of linebacker Devin White and cornerback Kristian Fulton. Those decisions should be coming soon as the deadline to declare for the NFL draft is Monday, Jan. 14.
