The No. 9 LSU basketball team will get at least one of their missing pieces back in its SEC Tournament quarterfinal game as Naz Reid will return to action, per interim head coach Tony Benford on the weekly coach’s radio show Monday night.
Reid missed the Tigers’ season finale Saturday after taking a shot to the face at the end of LSU’s 79-78 overtime victory against Florida last Wednesday night.
“Naz is ready to go,” Benford said. “He’ll be out at practice (Tuesday). He’s excited to go. I spoke to him earlier today and he’s looking forward to getting out there.”
An LSU official told Tiger Rag prior to LSU’s game against Vanderbilt that Reid’s absence served mostly as a precautionary measure.
Reid averaged 13.3 points and nearly 7 rebounds per game during the regular season, and he figures to serve a big role in the postseason with LSU missing head coach Will Wade suspended and freshman guard Javonte Smart currently sidelined amid controversy.
