With five LSU underclassmen already announced to have declared for the NBA Draft, it looks as though Marlon Taylor joined them without much fanfare as his name was included on the NBA’s list of early entry candidates for the 2019 NBA Draft.
The high-flying, 6-foot-6 junior who transferred to LSU from Panola College enters the draft after a season in which he started 24 games and averaged 6.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
Taylor made a name for himself with flashy and impressive dunks, using his 42.5-inch vertical leap to get over defenders of all shapes and sizes.
He is the sixth LSU underclassman to declare for the draft, and now LSU’s top seven scorers from last season either out of eligibility (Kavell Bigby-Williams) or currently declared for the NBA Draft (Taylor, Tremont Waters, Naz Reid, Skylar Mays, Javonte Smart and Emmitt Williams).
Under new NCAA rules, basketball athletes may declare for the NBA Draft and even retain an agent while still maintaining NCAA eligibility as long as they request meetings from NBA teams and drop their NCAA-approved agent if they choose to return to school.
