LSU’s three-headed monster at wide receiver will be whole again for a top-10 match-up against Auburn at Tiger Stadium.
Terrace Marshall practiced in a gold non-contact jersey during the media viewing portion of practice on Tuesday, but LSU coach Ed Orgeron said the sophomore has done “very well” and will be ready to go for Saturday.
“We put him in a gold shirt yesterday and he ran through most of the drills we had,” Orgeron said on the SEC Coaches Teleconference. “He’s going to be ready to go.”
Marshall hasn’t played since the Vanderbilt game. He suffered a foot fracture during that contest and underwent surgery the following day. He returned to practice on a limited basis a couple weeks ago.
Prior to the injury, Marshall had been enjoying a breakout season. He’d caught 20 passes for 304 yards with six touchdowns through four games.
Despite missing the past three games, he still ranks third on the team in all three categories behind only Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase.
“I believe him and Joe (Burrow) have a special connection,” Orgeron said. “I do believe that they feel each other when they’re running their routes. You can see that in the success they’ve had. It gives us three big-time receivers.”
Injuries have been the only thing capable of slowing Marshall down to this point. He wasn’t 100 percent during his freshman year as the result of a serious knee injury suffered in high school.
Given an healthy offseason to train, Marshall came into fall camp and won a starting job. The 6-foot-4 receiver quickly emerged as both a deep threat and a go-to guy in the red zone for Burrow.
THOMAS STILL NOT AT FULL SPEED
Perhaps the surprise development of the week around LSU has been a return to practice for freshman offensive lineman Kardell Thomas.
Thomas went down in fall camp with a serious ankle injury that Orgeron believed would keep him out for the season.
The former five-star recruit has gone through some individual drills in practice this week, Orgeron explained, but there’s no timetable for him to go at full speed, much less return to live action.
“We’ll see where it takes him, but he’s not ready to play yet,” Orgeron said. “We need to see if he can go full speed in pads. We’re not ready to do that yet … We’re going to see where that progresses.”
I am happy for Terrace Marshall and the LSU TIgers. Terrace is a big target at 6’4” and has fantastic skills at catching the ball and running routes, weighing 201 pounds he is a great blocker also, he is an outstanding player and most definitely a game changer. You will see him in the NFL. It is such an exciting time for LSU football and another great thing is, one day we may see a lot of LSU’s players in the NFL playing for the Saints. Go TIGERS !!!
