Four-star defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy faxed in his signed national letter of intent to play for LSU Wednesday morning.
The University Lab product, the No. 5 defensive tackle nationally and No. 2 prospect in the state of Louisiana according to Geaux247 Sports, probably could have just as easily walked across campus delivered it by hand to LSU coach Ed Orgeron.
Roy is a blank canvas of sorts, a 6-4, 289-pound lineman who could potentially play any like position. He could get bigger in college and become a space eater at nose tackle or he could trim up a bit and line up on the end.
Roy is great at shedding blocks and winning one-on-one battles and is also surprisingly adept for his size at pursuing offensive players in the backfield.
Defensive lineman don’t usually have an instant impact as a true freshman. But the window is open for Roy, depending on what role LSU wants him to serve.
LSU originally offered Roy in June 2018 on an unofficial visit. He first committed to the Tigers following LSU 22-21 victory over Auburn in September 2018, decommitted last February and re-committed to LSU this last June.
