LSU will have a new starting place kicker this season.

Senior Trent Domingue tweeted Wednesday afternoon that he’s leaving the program after LSU didn’t renew his scholarship. He wrote that he’ll look for another school to play out his fifth and final year of eligibility.

To make matters stranger, Domingue was one of 30 kickers to make the Lou Groza Award watch list released last week. Domingue was a semifinalist for the award last season after starting the year a perfect 10-of-10 on field goal attempts, the most consecutive field goals made by an LSU kicker since Drew Alleman nailed 11 straight between the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

A Mandeville, Louisiana native, Domingue finished the 2015 season 13-of-17 on field goals and 49-of-50 on point after touchdown attempts. He also scored the game-winning touchdown with a 16-yard run on a fake field goal attempt in LSU’s 35-28 victory over Florida.

Four place kickers remain on the Tiger roster: senior Colby Delahoussaye, junior Cameron Gamble and freshmen Connor Culp and Jack Gonsoulin.
