A sports hernia injury cost former LSU guard Keith Hornsby 13 games in his senior season.
It didn’t cost him a professional contract, however.
The Williamsburg, Va. native inked a deal with the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, the organization announced on its website.
The terms of the deal were undisclosed, per a team policy.
Hornsby scored 1,296 points in four collegiate seasons, the last two at LSU. His 13.1 points per game ranked second to No. 1 overall pick Ben Simmons for the Tigers in 2015-16, and despite his limited action and playing through pain, he was LSU’s most efficient scorer, producing 121.9 points per 100 possessions while posting a .489/.415/.818 shooting line.
In 2014-15, Hornsby helped lead LSU to the NCAA Tournament, averaging 13.4 points per game and hitting the biggest shot of the season, a buzzer beater to knock off Arkansas in the SEC regular season finale and all but clinch the Tigers’ tournament berth.
