LSU’s nationally ranked Class of 2024 has 18 commitments. What the Tigers don’t have is a five-star prospect and a wide receiver ranked among the top 10 in the nation.
The Tigers have positioned themselves for both when five-star receiver prospect Cam Coleman of Phenix City, Alabama said the Tigers were among his seven finalists.
LSU, which is hosting Coleman on an official visit this Friday, joined Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky and Texas A&M.
Coleman’s also made official visits to Clemson, Auburn, Texas A&M and spent time at Florida State following a camp.
Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton are LSU’s lead recruiters for Coleman, the nation’s top-rated receiver and seventh-rated overall by ESPN. On3Sports, 247Sports and ESPN have rated him among the top three players in Alabama where four of the state’s top 20 players have committed to school’s outside of their home state.
The 6-3 ½ , 185-pound Coleman, who is coached by former Auburn quarterback Patrick Nix at Central High, caught 31 passes for 542 yards (17.5 yards per catch) with six touchdowns. He helped Central to a 10-3 record and third round of the state playoffs against Auburn.
LSU, which has the No. 5 recruiting class per Rivals.com, has an 18-member recruiting class led by four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green of East Feliciana High – the nation’s No. 66 rated composite player. The Tigers currently have two receivers JoJo Stone of Fairburn, Georgia (No. 303) and Kylan Billiot of Terrebonne High (No. 560) committed in their current class.
