The hits just keep coming to LSU’s front seven.
Outside linebacker Corey Thompson suffered a leg injury in practice Wednesday morning that’ll keep him out for the start of the season, according to multiple media reports. The injury isn’t expected to be season-ending, according to a report from The Advocate.
The converted defensive was competing for a starting spot at outside linebacker in Dave Aranda’s 3-4 defense after bulking up over the summer. Tashawn Bower, who missed time earlier in camp with an unspecified “nick,” now becomes the likely starter. True freshmen Michael Divinity and Ray Thornton have also worked at the position.
Thompson is the third member of LSU’s front seven to suffer a serious leg injury since Sunday. Starting defensive end Christian LaCouture and outside linebacker Isaiah Washington are expected to miss the entire season with knee injuries. LaCouture confirmed via twitter on Tuesday that he tore his ACL.
Wednesday is the first of LSU’s two-a-days full-squad practices. Les Miles’ next scheduled meeting with the media is set for Thursday after the Tigers’ morning practice.
