Leonard Fournette is out of his walking boot.

LSU’s Heisman-hopeful tailback didn’t participate in Tuesday’s 100-plus play scrimmage in Tiger Stadium, Les Miles said afterward, but Fournette has run on the side the past two days and is expected to rejoin practice Thursday after the Tigers take Wednesday off.

“He was running today and yesterday,” Miles divulged. “The next time we take the field, my guess is he will be practicing.”

Fournette had been in the boot since suffering what Miles characterized as a “slight” ankle sprain in a scrimmage last week. Miles has been complementary of the job Derrius Guice and Darrel Williams have done in relief — LSU ran for 188 yards in Tuesday’s scrimmage, according to Miles, — but Fournette’s return would certainly come as a sigh of relief nine days ahead of the season-opener against Wisconsin.

Wideout Travin Dural scrimmaged and “had some grabs” after missing Saturday’s scrimmage with a hand injury, Miles said. Injury news beyond that is good in that there wasn’t any.

“We lacked injury, which is wonderful,” Miles said.

The coach also mentioned Tuesday was LSU’s last tackling of camp. Here’s more news, notes and quotes from the presser:

– Kickers Colby Delahoussaye and Connor Culp connected on field goals from 30 and 37 yards, Miles said, though he didn’t specify who made which kick.

– As far as the offensive line, Miles said Maea Teuhema, KJ Malone and Toby Weathersby are all rotating in at the two tackle spots. Teuhema is recovering from an ankle sprain of his own, and as of Saturday, Miles named Malone and Weathersby as the leaders for the tackle jobs. “We’re rotating (Teuhema) and Toby and K.J. Malone, all of which are starters in my mind,” he said Tuesday.

– Monday’s news that reserve offensive lineman George Brown is leaving the program brings LSU’s transfer total up to eight since the end of last season. Miles, asked about the wave of departures, compared transferring to changing hairdressers. Here’s the full answer: “I think each guy has a different story and different reason for transferring. I certainly recognize those things. I think it’s a different time now than it’s been. Totally different. It’s like changing your hairdresser. ‘Let me have another experience and see what it’s like.’ And I understand that, but in the same vein, they don’t get to finish being Tigers.”

– Anthony Jennings, one of those (at least) 11 transfers, was named UL-Lafayette’s starting quarterback Tuesday. “I think he is a talented guy,” Miles said. “We wish him well.”
