LSU was eight minutes from snapping its 11-game losing streak. Leading 69-63 after more than three-quarters of the game, the Tigers needed just a few stops and a few buckets to get their second league win of the season.
Then, as has been the case all season, the wheels came off.
Ole Miss outscored LSU 33-7 down the stretch, as Antonio Blakeney — who scored 29 points on the night, 22 in the first half — took just a single shot as the Rebels raced past the Tigers 96-76 in Oxford.
Terence Davis scored 33 for Ole Miss in victory, including 22 in the second half, while Skylar Mays scored 19 points for LSU in defeat. The Rebels outshot LSU 54 percent to 43 percent, and 56 percent to 28 percent in the second half.
The Tigers, who led by as many as 11 in the second half, fall to 9-16 overall, 1-12 in the SEC. The 12 straight losses are two shy of the all-time record in program history, and LSU has just five games to avoid becoming the league’s first one-win team since Alabama in 1968-89.
