Two LSU players landed among the 103 college defenders to land on the Bronco Nagurski Trophy Preaseason Watch List awarded by the Football Writers Association of America to the nation’s best defensive player, while another on offense picked up his second preseason recognition.

Arden Key was one of 29 linebackers on the Nagurski list, while Kevin Toliver joined 29 other defensive backs. Meanwhile, Rimington Watch Lister Will Clapp landed on the Outland Trophy Watch List, awarded to the nation’s top interior lineman.

In total, 14 SEC players made the Nagurski list, third among major conferences, behind the ACC (20) and the Big Ten (16).

Key set a school record in 2016 with 12 sacks on his way to AP first team All-SEC honors as a sophomore. Toliver played just seven games as a sophomore, battling a shoulder injury, but was a Freshman All-SEC and Freshman All-American performer in 2015. Clapp earned first team All-SEC honors as awarded by the league’s coaches in 2016 and will transition from guard to center in 2017.
