No, you’re not seeing double: for the first time in school history, two LSU players will wear the coveted No. 18 jersey.

The school announced Monday morning that former walk-on fullback J.D. Moore — now a tight end in Matt Canada’s offense — will join defensive end Christian LaCouture in wearing No. 18 this season. Moore was presented his new jersey at a team meeting Sunday night.

Bestowing the No. 18 jersey to veteran leaders is a tradition that dates back to Matt Mauck and the 2003 national championship season. But this is the first time two players will wear it in the same season.

“This team has a number of guys who would be a perfect fit to wear No. 18 for the Tigers and I am very proud that both Christian and J.D. will get a chance to do that,” LSU coach Ed Orgeron said through an official release. “The leadership they have shown makes them both a great choice.”

Both players are fifth-year seniors and multiple-year starters for the Tigers. Moore carries a 3.995 GPA in architecture, which, needless to say, is not easy to do.

Here’s the list of LSU’s No. 18s:

2000-03: Matt Mauck

2004-07: Jacob Hester

2008-09: Richard Dickson

2010: Richard Murphy

2011: Brandon Taylor

2012: Bennie Logan

2013: Lamin Barrow

2014: Terrence Magee

2015-16: Tre’Davious White

2017: Christian LaCouture; J.D. Moore
