Oregon transfer and LSU commit Kavell Bigby-Williams has been cleared of sexual assault allegations, removing a hurdle to his enrollment and bringing his potential arrival to campus closer to fruition.
The 6-foot-11 big man, who would have to sit out the 2017-18 season due to NCAA transfer rules, was reportedly under investigation for a sexual assault last season while he was at Oregon, but prosecutors have declined to file charges.
“No charges have been nor will be filed in the case,” Gillette College Police Lt. Chad Trebby said.
The accusation came last fall after Bigby-Williams visited Gillette, where he was the 2016 NJCAA Division I Player of the Year. The University of Oregon did not inform the basketball program of any investigation, according to reports.
Bigby-Williams, a London native, averaged 3.0 points and 2.8 rebounds per game on Oregon’s 2016-17 Final Four team, seeing an uptick in minutes late in the season after an injury to Duck star Chris Boucher. At Gillette, he averaged 16.8 points, 13.6 rebounds and 5.6 blocks per game.
His transfer to LSU is not yet complete, though a source told Tiger Rag on Friday it was in the works and “getting closer.”
