ABC to televise LSU-Florida State opener in prime time

LSU has a start time for its  season-opener against Florida State.

The game will begin at 6:30 p.m. (CT) on Sept. 4, a Sunday night.It will air on ABC.

The neutral-site game is being played at the Superdome in New Orleans. It will mark the debut of new LSU coach Brian Kelly, who was hired away from Notre Dame to replace Ed Orgeron.

LSU’s home opener at Tiger Stadium is Sept. 10 (start time to-be-announced) against FCS Southland Conference member Southern. Its first true road game is also LSU’s SEC opener, Oct. 1 at Auburn (state time also to-be-announced). The Tigers close SEC play and their regular season Nov. 26 at Texas A&M.

LSU is coming off a 6-7 season that ended with a Texas Bowl loss to Kansas State with Brad Davis working the sideline as interim head coach in place of Orgeron. Florida State finished last season 5-7.

It will be the first meeting between LSU and Florida State since 1991, when then-No. 1 FSU beat the Tigers 26-17 in Baton Rouge.

LSU is 2-7 all-time against the Seminoles including wins in the 1968 Peach Bowl (31-27) and in 1982 at Tiger Stadium (55-21).

The Tigers are 91-32-5 all-time in season-openers.
