BATON ROUGE – LSU head men’s basketball coach Johnny Jones has announced that assistant coach Al Pinkins is leaving the Tigers staff to pursue another coaching opportunity.

Pinkins, a native of Camilla, Georgia, joined the Tiger program prior to the 2015-16 season, after coaching in the SEC for one year at Tennessee and three seasons at Ole Miss.

“We appreciate all of Coach Pinkins contributions to our program last season,” said Coach Jones. “We wish him and his family all the best.”

Pinkins played his college ball first at Chipola Junior College and then at NC State, where he graduated in 1998. Prior to his SEC stints in coaching, he served at Middle Tennessee State for eight seasons.
