Devin White still has work left to do.
The All-American linebacker and projected top-10 draft pick announced that he will play for LSU in the Fiesta Bowl against UCF. White made his intentions known through a tweet on Tuesday morning.
“To clear up the rumors, I will be playing in the 2019 Fiesta Bowl with my brothers,” White wrote. “Alot of business to handle. God bless.”
The news comes less than one day after teammate Greedy Williams declared for the 2019 NFL Draft. Unlike White, the All-American cornerback plans to sit out the bowl game and prepare for the draft, which has become a major trend of late.
White is a finalist for the Butkus Award, which is given annually to the best linebacker in the nation. He led LSU with 115 tackles and finished second in the Southeastern Conference despite having to sit out half of the Alabama game due to a targeting suspension.
On the subject of targeting, LSU having White in the desert is crucial as fellow starter Jacob Phillips will have to sit out the first half against UCF. Phillips was ejected for targeting during the regular-season finale against Texas A&M.
