After four years and 136 games LSU utility player Drew Bianco has reportedly entered the NCAA transfer portal, D1Baseball said Wednesday evening.
Bianco, the son of former LSU catcher and Ole Miss national championship winning coach Mike Bianco, played both the infield and outfield during his career. He started in nine of 34 games during an injury-filled 2022 season with a .128 average, four RBIs and a .972 fielding percentage with one error in 36 chances.
Bianco later thanked the LSU faithful for his time in Baton Rouge on his Instagram page.
“Thank you, LSU for the best 4 years of my life!!! As a kid growing up in Oxford, never thought I’d call Baton Rouge home, but it is home!! Gonna miss being a Tiger and gonna miss all my great teammates throughout the years!! Love you Tiger nation!!!
Bianco is the ninth player from LSU with remaining eligibility to transfer. He has one year to play because of his COVID exemption after the 2020 season was halted in March because of the pandemic.
An Oxford, Mississippi native, Bianco is a career .190 hitter with 41 RBIs, 10 homers, eight doubles and 13 stolen bases. He’s a career .975 fielder with six errors in 240 chances.
His best season came in head coach Paul Mainieri’s final season in 2021, batting .246 in 50 games. He hit a career-high seven homers, drove in 21 runs, walked 17 times and stole seven bases.
