East Baton Rouge district attorney Hillar Moore has declined to press charges against LSU defensive end Davon Godchaux, who was arrested Monday morning for domestic abuse battery/child endangerment and false imprisonment.
According to a statement from Moore, prosecutors decided against filing charges largely because of inconsistencies in the statement provided by the victim, the mother of Godchaux’s 10-month-old child. Godchaux’s statement and physical evidence at the scene were also considered, per the statement.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office arrested Godchaux on Monday morning after what the police report described as a “tussle” with his girlfriend stemming from a dispute about their relationship.
LSU suspended Godchaux indefinitely from the team following the Monday morning arrest, LSU spokesman Michael Bonnette confirmed Monday.
