Ed Orgeron landed perhaps the best pass rusher left in the Class of 2017, as five-star Texas OLB/DE K’Lavon Chaisson announced he would sign with LSU today.
Chaisson, out of North Shore High School in Houston, picked LSU over Texas and Colorado.
A late-riser on recruiting boards across the country, Chaisson is ranked the No. 11 overall prospect in the country, according to 247Sports.com. The 6-foot-4, 220 pounder tied the sacks record at the Under Armour All-American game, registering three on the day.
After focusing on basketball his freshman season, Chaisson camped the summer before his sophomore season at LSU, where he picked up his first offer. He registered 15 sacks as a junior and seven as a senior, and he’s been described by talent evaluators as the heir apparent to Arden Key as Dave Aranda’s go-to pass rusher.
His addition gives LSU, so far, two five-star prospects, joining safety JaCoby Stevens. LSU is also in the hunt for five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson, who will announce Wednesday afternoon.
