Alexander, a 6-foot-6 small forward, is LSU’s first 2017 commitment. He’s a four-star prospect ranked No. 62 in the nation by 247Composite.
“I just felt like it was time,” Alexander told NOLA.com on Sunday morning. “I kind of knew where I wanted to go. All the other schools, they kind of eliminated themselves. They showed their true colors. LSU stayed on top whether I was playing good or bad. They always trusted me and they trusted the player I could be. I trusted the player they can turn me into. I felt like that was the best decision for me.”
An athletic wing with a nose for the rim, Alexander was LSU’s top priority in the 2017 class heading into the summer, and his addition is particularly key following the commitment of five-star center Mitchell Robinson, a Chalmette prospect, to Western Kentucky.
LSU beat out Arizona, Western Kentucky, Marquette,, NC State, Memphis and TCU for Alexander’s services.

Alexander missed the first portion of his junior season at Lafayette Christian after transferring in from Breaux Bridge, but still averaged 15.9 points in 12 games for the Class 1A semifinals. He’s averaged 11.2 points in 16 games for RM5 Elite, a Nike Elite Youth Basketball League team based out of Texas.
