Louisiana’s top-ranked defensive back is back in LSU’s 2018 class.
Four-star defensive back Kelvin Joseph committed to the Tigers during the US Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio on Saturday afternoon. He’s the No. 4 safety in the class and No. 3 prospect in the state of Louisiana, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
Joseph picked LSU out of a final four that included Alabama, Auburn and Florida State. He was previously committed to the Tigers for two years before re-opening his recruitment last fall.
The Baton Rouge-native has only taken only official visit so far, taking a closer look at Florida State in October. He’ll continue taking official visits despite being committed, according to a report from SEC Country. He’s set to visit LSU on Jan. 19, Alabama on Jan. 26 and Auburn on Feb. 2.
Joseph is exactly the kind of blue chip prospect LSU coach Ed Orgeron has directed his staff to target for the final four spots in the class. LSU signed 21 prospects during the Early Signing Period and is dealing with a hard cap of 25.
