In his first career start, Fitzgerald did his best Dak Prescott impression, and the redshirt freshman came pretty close in performance to his heralded predecessor.

Fitzgerald, running against Will Muschamp’s South Carolina defense, set a school record for rushing yards by a quarterback, tallying 195 yards on the ground. He added another 178 yards and two scores through the air in a 27-14 win over the Gamecocks.

Like Prescott, who gave LSU trouble both in 2014 and 2015, Fitzgerald can hurt opponents by land or by air.

It’ll be up to Adams, who is playing closer to the line of scrimmage this season than in years past, to track his every movement. The junior preseason All-American safety will have his hands full and will have to stay disciplined to limit Fitzgerald’s effectiveness.
