Hot off the grill: LSU, Manda announce sponsorship deal

The LSU Tigers now have an “official smoked sausage.”

Manda Fine Meats, a Baton Rouge-based business, announced a four-year partnership with LSU’s athletic department Thursday.

“As a third-generation, family-owned company, my brothers and I are proud to become the official smoked sausage of LSU athletics,” Manda CEO Bobby Yarborough said in a news release issued by the company.

“As our company begins to celebrate its 75th year in business this fall, we could not be more pleased to be doing so as the official smoked sausage of LSU Athletics. We feel that the true grit and hard work of Manda’s founders and current team members mirror the true grit and hard work of our LSU athletes, and this is what sticks in our mind as we partner with LSU … .”

In operation since 1947, Manda specializes in smoked sausage, cracklins, Andouille, boudin, Cajun deli meats and hog dead cheese. Its products are carried by retailers in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Florida and Alabama.

“LSU athletics congratulates Manda Fine Meats on their 75th anniversary and looks forward to this partnership for many years as Manda’s has been a local favorite to the best fans in college athletics,” Lance Burgos, general manager of LSU Sports Properties, said in a news release issued by the school.

Financial terms of the sponsorship deal were not disclosed.
