A day after seeing his name on the Maxwell Award watch list, LSU senior quarterback Joe Burrow had his name added to another preseason watch list, this one being quarterback specific.
Burrow was named one of 30 quarterbacks on the preseason watch list for the Davey O’Brien award, the Davey O’Brien Foundation announced Tuesday.
Burrow enters the field after a junior season in which he threw for 2,894 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions despite joining the program less than two months before the season began.
The grad transfer from Ohio State is expected to see increased production after the addition of passing game coordinator Joe Brady to the staff, who has assured fans that the Tigers will play a more spread-style offense with a promise of run-pass option plays in the mix.
Burrow led the Tigers to a 10-3 record in his first year at the program, and broke tied five school records, and he became the first player in program history to throw for at least 2,800 yards and rush at least 350 yards.
