LSU debuts at No. 22 in AP Poll

Former LSU basketball coach Will Wade dramatically turned the Tigers around from 2017-22, albeit against NCAA rules. After getting McNeese State to two NCAA Tournaments, he is now North Carolina State's new coach. (File photo).

Everyone may still be in a football mindset, but basketball season is right around the corner and the Tigers made their debut in the Associated Press Top 25 preseason poll, which the AP released Monday morning.

The Tigers come in at No. 22 a year after winning the Southeastern Conference regular-season title and reaching the Sweet 16 despite a suspension to head coach Will Wade that kept him out of the postseason.

LSU is one of just four teams to make the cut, with Kentucky coming in at No. 2, Florida ranking No. 6 and Auburn sneaking in at No. 24 a year after reaching the Final Four.

The Tigers start their season on Nov. 8 against Bowling Green in the PMAC.
