LSU lands two players on Bednarik Award Watch List

LSU landed two players on the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, given annually to the best defensive player in the nation by The Maxwell Football Club, the club announced Monday.

Junior linebacker Devin White and sophomore defensive back Andraez ‘Greedy’ Williams were among those named to the first of 16 lists to be released throughout the season.

White, who led the SEC in tackles last season, racked up 133 stops en route to All-American honors as a sophomore. The Spring Hill, La. native is expected to anchor Dave Aranda’s defense as one of the top returning players in the country at his position.

Williams, also an All-American in 2017, picked off six passes as a redshirt freshman, the top mark in the SEC. Despite the losses of Kevin Toliver and Donte Jackson to the NFL, Williams’ return to the Tigers’ secondary provides a cornerstone at cornerback in Aranda’s aerial defense.
