LSU received its lowest preseason ranking to date from Baseball America.
The Tigers checked in at No. 17 in Baseball America’s preseason top 25, which was released Tuesday morning. LSU has been in the top 20 of all four preseason polls released thus far, as LSU was ranked No. 10 (Collegiate Baseball), No. 12 (Perfect Game) and No. 16 (D1Baseball) previously.
All four polls have also steadily reflected what’s expected to be a loaded Southeastern Conference in 2018. Baseball America, like D1Baseball, ranked eight SEC schools in its preseason Top 25.
Defending national champions Florida once again begin the season at No. 1 while LSU, the team it beat, begins the season needing to replace its entire weekend rotation and much of its starting infield.
In other news, sophomore outfielder Zach Watson was named a Preseason second-team All-American by D1Baseball.com, which released its All-America selections Tuesday morning. Watson previously earned third-team honors from Perfect Game.
