LSU will pay Ed Orgeron a lump sum of $675,000 for the two months he served as the school’s interim football coach, according to the agenda from the upcoming LSU Board of Supervisors meeting.
Orgeron signed a memorandum of agreement upon taking over for Les Miles, who was fired on Sept. 25. Had LSU’s coaching search lasted beyond Dec. 15, Orgeron would have earned an additional $8,225 for each day he served as interim coach. The Tigers went 5-2 under his direction.
LSU named Orgeron its full-time head coach on Saturday. The money he earned as interim coach will be paid in addition to the $600,000 annual salary Orgeron earned as defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator, an agreement he signed last offseason.
Here’s the full agreement.
