LAKE ELMO, Minnesota – LSU’s fourth-ranked women’s golf team never got untracked in its first fall tournament and suffered its worst finish since the 2018-19 season.
The Tigers finished 11th in the 12-team ANNIKA Intercollegiate field, posting a 21-over par 885 here Wednesday at the Royal Golf Club. LSU closed with a final round 7-over 295, finishing 35 shots behind tourney champ South Carolina which ended at 143-under 850.
The only LSU golfer with a subpar round in the 54-hole tourney was junior all-American Ingrid Lindblad. She fired a final round 3-under 69 as she improved nine places to finish tied for 10tn place at 2-under 214. It was her 15th top 10 career finish for the Tigers as she had five as a freshman and nine as a sophomore last season.
Sophomore Carla Tejedo Mulet, who had been tied with Lindblad in 19th place after the first two rounds, plummeted 18 spots to 37th at 7-over 223 after a closing round 5-over 77.
From its six golfers, the Tigers produced just three rounds of par or better from Lindblad (a first-round par 72, a third-round 3-under 69) and Mulet (a first-round par 72).
LSU doesn’t play again until Oct. 11-12 when it tees it up in the Illini Women’s Invitational at the Medinah (Ill.) Country Club course No. 2.
