LSU track and field sensation Favour Ofili began her indoor season in the sprints on a positive note.

Ofili, running in her first sprint race of the 2023 season, broke the meet record Friday in the 200 and also established a nation’s best time in winning Friday’s event at the Razorback Invitational at Arkansas’ Randal Tyson Indoor Track.

Ofili won the event in a meet-record time of 22.53 seconds to break the existing record of 22.72. She was able to hold off Florida’s Talitha Diggs (22.65) for the victory.

LSU also had two performers that placed second and third on the men’s side.

John Mayer was second in the shot put with a 65-10 ½ effort and Brandon Hicklin finished third in the long jump with a leap of 26-1 ¾.

The two-day meet resumes Saturday.
