LSU freshman golfer Cohen Trolio was one of five rookies named to the Southeastern Conference’s All-Freshman Team the league announced Friday.
Trolio has impacted LSU golf’s team in his first season, having played in each event going into next week’s NCAA Regional in Stockton, California. Twenty-six of his 30 rounds played in stroke play have counted towards the team’s score, and he has three top-10 finishes on the season.
Trolio has a 71.38 stroke average, the second lowest average for LSU. He recently tied for third place the SEC Championships with a 4-under 206 for the best finish of his career.
He ranks third on LSU’s team with 101 birdies, second with three eagles and 344 pars. He had back-to-back Top 10 finishes in March at the San Diego Classic, which LSU won as a team, and the Louisiana Classics.
Trolil’s low round of the season is 5-under 67, which he’s accomplished on three separate occasions.
