LSU’s 2017 class got bad news on Tuesday morning, when four-star wide receiver commit Stephen Guidry announced he would not be signing with the Tigers and instead would return to Hinds Community College for another season.

Guidry was perhaps the highlight of LSU’s wide receiver corps in the 2017 class, a 6-foot-4, high-flying, physical target who looked set to compete for the snaps vacated by NFL-bound Malachi Dupre. Grades, however, will keep Guidry from enrolling at LSU, as he will have to spend another semester in junior college to get his academics straight before graduating in December.
It’s expected Guidry will join LSU after he graduates from Hinds as an early enrollee after the 2017 season. He grabbed five touchdowns and 547 receiving yards in eight games as a freshman in 2016.
At wide receiver, LSU has already signed early enrollee Mannie Netherly, a four-star from Houston, and three-star Edna Karr wideout Racey McMath sent his papers in this morning, bringing the tally to two for the 2017 class.
