It’s been quite the week for Ed Orgeron, Austin Thomas and the rest of LSU’s recruiting staff.
The Tigers secured their fifth commitment in as many days when Mississippi offensive guard Saahdiq Charles chose LSU over Mississippi State on Tuesday afternoon.

Charles, listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite Rankings, becomes LSU’s 12th commitment overall and third offensive lineman pledge for the class of 2017. Jeff Grimes and Orgeron, Charles’ primary recruiters, offered the 6-foot-5, 314-pound product back on April 9.
This run began with Cy-Fair offensive tackle Austin Deculus last Friday and continued through the weekend with wideout Stephen Guidry and fullback Tony Carter committing at the Bayou Picnic. Then Catholic High defensive end Aaron Moffitt, son of LSU strength coach Tommy Moffitt, made something of an unexpected commitment on Monday.
With Charles’ pledge, LSU now sits at No. 3 in 247Sports’ class rankings. That same class sat at No. 19 before this recent prolific run. You’ll also remember Les Miles and Co. inked the second-ranked class back in February.
