LSU took the practice field as a consensus top-10 team for the first time Monday, but the Tigers were missing starters along both sides of the line of scrimmage.
Left tackle Saahdiq Charles and defensive end Glen Logan were absent during the media viewing portion of practice Monday. Wide receiver Derrick Dillon was also missing.
Logan left during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 22-21 win over Auburn with an injury and didn’t return. It’s unclear why Charles or Dillon aren’t participating at practice.
LSU coach Ed Orgeron said LSU was dealing with a long list of minor injuries coming out of the Auburn game, but he didn’t consider any of the injuries to be serious.
“We had a lot, to be honest with you, it was a war,” Orgeron said at his Monday press luncheon. “We have some bumps and bruises. The list was a little bit bigger today than it usually is. I don’t think we’ll have anybody totally out for the game that I know of yet.”
A number of players who suffered injuries during the Auburn game did participate in the pad-less practice Monday.
Linebacker Ray Thornton, who got hurt on the opening kickoff, appeared to be a full participant. Ditto for left guard Garrett Brumfield, who left the game with a shoulder injury but returned a few drives later.
Safety Todd Harris was present and participating at practice. Cornerbacks Terrence Alexander and Kary Vincent continued to work at safety during individual drills.
Orgeron listed all three as potential fill-in starters for John Battle, who will miss the first half of the Louisiana Tech game after being ejected for targeting in the second half of the Auburn game.
Here’s some other injury and personnel nuggets from practice and Orgeron’s press conference:
- Tackle Adrian Magee isn’t ready to return yet this week, Orgeron said. He was estimated to be out two-to-three weeks after going down with a leg injury in the season-opener against Miami. Orgeron added that Magee will have to earn his starting spot back once healthy.
- Tight end Thaddeus Moss participated at practice Monday. He’s yet to play yet this season.
