Junior college forward Marlon Taylor commits to LSU

LSU has landed a commitment from Panola College forward Marlon Taylor, a source confirmed to Tiger Rag on Wednesday, giving the Tigers a fifth member of the 2018 class at a position of need.

Taylor, a 6-foot-6 wing who can play the 3 or the 4, averaged 17.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in 2017-18 for Panola, shooting 44 percent from 3. He steps into the program as Brandon Sampson, a similarly athletic shooting wing, leaves for the NBA Draft. Taylor, originally a product of Mount Vernon, N.Y., sports a 40-plus inch vertical and will compete for minutes at the 3 and 4 for LSU. He didn’t begin playing organized basketball until his junior year at Mount Vernon, winning a state title as a senior.

LSU now has two remaining scholarships for the 2018 class. Stay tuned for updates.
