It took until the middle of the sixth round, but an LSU player is off the board on day three of the NFL Draft.
The Atlanta Falcons selected LSU wide receiver and special teams ace Russell Gage with the No. 194 overall pick in the NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon. He’s the fifth Tiger off the board overall.
A converted defensive back with outstanding speed and leaping ability, Gage accounted for over 500 yards of total offense with four touchdowns last season. He also downed countless punts deep in enemy territory as a standout gunner.
Gage’s penchant for special teams playmaking figured to land him on a roster no matter what. He elevated his stock at LSU Pro Day by posting a blazing 4.42-second time in the 40-yard dash and a ridiculous 39-inch vertical jump.
Atlanta has been a popular destination for former Tigers lately. He’ll join linebackers Deion Jones and Duke Riley, both second-round picks, in Atlanta.
