LSU’s first preseason camp with Brian Kelly as head coach opens Thursday.

The Tigers are scheduled to practice at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, and Kelly is scheduled to meet with media members early Thursday night.

Kelly was hired away from Notre Dame late last year to succeed Ed Orgeron, who coached LSU to a 2019 season national championship but reached a full $16.9 million separation agreement with the university that requires him to cooperate with ongoing Title IX litigation involving the school.

Kelly has not settled on a starting quarterback, with returnees Myles Brennan and Garrett Nussmeier, Arizona State transfer Jayden Daniels and true freshman Walker Howard all in the mix as camp opens.

LSU opens its 2022 season Sept. 4 against Florida State at the Superdome in New Orleans.

The Tigers do so with receiver Kayshon Boutte and defensive end BJ Ojulari having been named to the preseason first team All-SEC Team as selected by media members covering last month’s SEC Media Days in Atlanta, opposite-side defensive end Ali Gaye having been named to the second team and defensive tackle Maason Smith having been named to the third team.

LSU also was picked to place fifth in the SEC’s Western Division in a preseason media poll that had Alabama winning the West, defending national-champion Georgia winning the Eastern Division and the Crimson Tide being declared an overwhelming favorite to win the league’s championship game.

As the Tigers prepare for their opener, Tiger Rag presents its own preseason All-SEC team:
